Every Year The Paw House  Rescues Hundreds of
Abused Homeless Animals In Our Community!

From Ariel Keis:

The Paw House, a 501(c3) charity dedicated to the rescue and placement of cats and other animals in need. Its Director, Rose Sofia, is a tireless, often 24/7, hands-on champion of this particular population of homeless animals in our area. We are currently working towards obtaining the funds to renovate a building to be used as a shelter, adoption center and veterinary clinic, providing low-cost spay and neutering for area pet owners. Sadly, there is never a shortage of animals needing food and shelter and we are no exception. Presently, The Paw House is caring for dozens of cats and kittens and relies solely on donations to continue the work we do.

We Need Your Help

We are all on a volunteer basis and 100% of donations received goes directly to the animals. I'll let Mr. Mistoffelees tell you exactly what we need!

Hi!!! My name is Mr. Mistoffolees! I was a Broadway performer who fell on hard times after my career ended. Fortunately I was very lucky to have been rescued by the kind humans at The Paw House! I'm here to let you know that The Paw House needs volunteers! Would you be kind enough to assist in caring for me and my furry friends by opening up your heart and home on a temporary basis so that myself and my friends can be prepared for permanent placement in the lives of people wanting to give us the love we need and deserve?

Your commitment and cost involve only your ability to provide a small amount of space (but, of course, a mandatory large amount of kindness) and the humans at The Paw House we will provide the rest - cages, food, litter, any necessary medications if needed and accessibility to a Paw House human at all times should the need arise.

We are also seeking volunteers to help out  for only 30 minutes a week, cleaning our cages, feeding us and letting us show you how loveable we are - up close and personal!!

The Paw House humans work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of animals like me in desperate need of care, attention and protection. Every step towards increasing awareness of our plight and that of other homeless animals is a step towards the goal of helping those who can't do for themselves and giving us the chance to give back a thousand-fold for just a little bit of your time, energy and desire to experience unconditional love and affection.

Our Paw House kitties share a quote for the day (from Henry Ward Beecher; we're SURE he loved cats!

"it is the heart that makes a man rich... that see and know and appreciate our thoughts and feelings and acts".

For information about volunteering opportunities, please call (631) 331-1156 or (631) 834-0640. The Paw House will also gladly accept donations. All proceeds go directly to supporting us cats. Should you decide to make a tax-deductible contribution (we are also in need of food and supplies) it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Mr. Mistoffolees

I'm a pretty talented boy if I do say so myself! Although my Broadway days are over, I'm still available to audition for a starring role in your living room or curled up on your lap!

My Personal Success Stories

In addition to extending my service as webmaster for the Paw House, I also do weekly cage maintenance and foster cats in my home. I'd like to share two of my personal experiences with The Paw House foster program.

Just Fur and Bones

This is Sweetie. She was abandoned in a feces soiled carrier sooooo small that she could not even turn around if she wanted to. She was literally fur and bones and we weren't sure that she would even make it through the night. She was flea infested and anemic. The photo shows Sweetie after 10 days of rehabilitation. I took her out to a park to get some fresh air because I had to keep her in a small isolation room at home as a precaution for my other cats.

After about a month we took her to veterinary examination and she was given a clean bill of health! By the way, I named her Sweetie because has the sweetest disposition. I can't imagine how someone could have been so cruel to her.

Oldie But Goodie!

This is Sweetie now after lots of  healthful food, clean water and love! Sweetie much older than we originally guessed. In fact she is an elderly cat. But she is healthy and would make a great companion for some one interested in adopting a senior cat.

If you are interested in adopting Sweetie please let us know by filling out the contact form on this site.

Last Oreo In The Cookie Jar!

This is Miss Oreo. Oreo was abandoned in front of a supermarket. She was a member of an unwanted litter of kittens. The owner of the Oreo's mother took the kittens to the supermarket to give them away. Oreo's brothers and sisters were taken by kind hearted people but no one wanted Oreo and she was just left at the supermarket.

Fortunately someone alerted The Paw House and I was given the privilege of fostering her.

Oreo turned out to be an awesome kitten. She is one incredibly smart spunky little energy ball! She chased my other three cats all over the house, "beat them up" and got into lots of trouble like a good kitten should! It was a pleasure fostering Oreo and I am happy to report that she has been placed in a loving home!

So there you have it. Those are just my two stories from the 3 months I've been with The Paw House and there are hundreds of other ones just like mine!  If you would like to hear about them and keep up to date with latest news and developments at The Paw House, kindly subscribe to our newsletter using the form below...
